Partial (Unicompartmental) Knee Replacement

Partial knee replacement may be recommended if arthritis is localised to one side of the knee and the remainder of the joint is unaffected. During your consultation there will be opportunity to discuss whether a partial knee replacement could be an option for you. The benefits of a partial knee replacement include a more rapid post-operative recovery and a more ‘natural’ feeling joint when compared to a total knee replacement. A computer-navigation system is used to ensure precise placement of the knee implants.

Post-operative physiotherapy is prescribed in order to maximise knee function. Patients may fully weight bear from the day of surgery.
